I found this exercise to be very interesting and exciting. It was nice to get the juices flowing and be able to put down the first things that came to mind. With this exercise, I found it difficult to come up with suitable group headings. I found that there were some thoughts that could go in multiple places and that I needed to make a decision as to how I wanted to group them. An example of this would be the headings Crime and World Issues. I think the topics from 'Crime' are also world issues therefore making it possible for it to fit into that group. I made sense of my jottings by reading and trying to rationalize how my initials thoughts tied together for example, I made ' Health' a broad heading because I thought of both physical and mental illnesses. In this exercise I learned that all thoughts are important to building a story but even if the idea or initial thought is taken out it still helps to build a specific direction that you want to go.
