 What is an Introduction?

Firstly, in order to understand the purpose of an introduction, we must first understand what an introduction is. An introduction takes place at the beginning of any written work or verbal speech that is basically letting the viewers or listeners know what it is that they are about to gain knowledge about. There are different works that must have an introduction. These include the above mentioned speeches, books, essays, music, casual conversation etc.

The Purpose of an Introduction:

In my opinion the purpose of an introduction is to give a look into what exactly would be the content in the writers body of work. This is very important as it can cause persons to be either very interested or lose interest in the rest of the written body. 

Is the introduction the most important part of the Essay?

The Introduction is definitely the most important part an essay! The introduction holds such a vital role that if neglected can make or break your work. If the introduction is not properly written and engaging you can quickly lose the interest of the reader. The aim of any introduction should be to not only introduce the contents of the essay but to hook the readers interest, exciting them to further read the body. 

If you were to write an essay what are some of the elements that you would use when writing your essay? 

When writing an essay the first set of elements are the structure of the essay. That is the introduction, body (the paragraphs), and lastly the conclusion. The internal elements of the essay include a hook, using a clear voice/ words, proper/ clear organization, lastly, emphasizing words, proofreading . It is important to have a hook in the introduction to grab the readers interest and attention. It is also important to use clear words and have a structured and organized. There are different internal elements. those mentioned and not mentioned but one thing that is very important is proofreading.  It is imperative to proofread to attempt to avoid as many mistakes and possible.
