Cats Vs Dogs Essay

Cats and Dogs are the best family pets. Most persons at one point in their life has had either a cat, dog or both. These animals are so popular that they often incite arguments and competitions on which one is better. The dog lovers community always feels like the cat lovers community is the inferior of the two, and they are not afraid to make it known. "Dogs are mans best friend for a reason... By the time you blink your eyes two times your cat has run off with a male cat." and the cat community comes back with an equally good response about the danger of dogs and babies. The representing communities tend to bring up points pertaining to the domesticablity, loyalty and longevity of life differences between cats and dogs.

How easy is it to domesticate a cat or a dog? Cats are cute, cuddly and small but they are not the easiest to integrate into the home. Getting a cat when it is really young is the the best way to go. When the cat is young you are able to train it better to abide by the house rules. On the other hand, when a cat is older it is more difficult as it is stuck in its ways and accustomed to no rules. Interestingly  though,  a cat  that is trained at some point in it's older life, begins to do things it was taught not to do. For instance, a person who has trained the cat to use the litter box comes home a random day, of a random week and find that their cat has continually peed on their curtain and defecated under their bed. Though cute and cuddly, cats tend to be more stubborn and like to have their own way. On the other hand, dogs are easier to domesticate from young because they tend to be more disciplined than their four legged opponents. Dogs come in from birth and although can be careless at times keep a better stance with house rules. Most dogs as long as they're fed and catered too will love their owners and like to do actions to make them happy.

Are cats truly the least loyal animal? In my opinion the answer is yes. Cats have the tendency to run away to another home, to a boyfriend or to a new life. Some cats eventually come back but there are many cats that do not stay at home and prefer to roam. Cats also do not protect their owners but protect themselves. Cats aren't even loyal to their own children. When they are newly born their mother will stick to them but as soon as they become old enough to walk and move about the mothers tend to disappear and reappear for days at a time. Conversely, dogs tend to stick in or outside the home to guard from anyone that may try to intrude, They do not really go roaming unless they are hungry and looking for food. Dogs love to be walked, cuddled and scratched by their owners and can be hostile towards unfamiliar parties that try to do such. They are not only territorial of their own space with strangers, they are also territorial of the space that is of their owners. Dogs have very good senses and are able to tell good people and bad people apart. A dog will never leave you hanging. they will leave you protected and give you a lick or a kiss from their nose to show you love.

Lastly, who live longer... cats or dogs? The answer for this is quite simple. Cats are generally said to have nine lives but I am not sure if some of those lives are in this life or the after life. As a casualty of their love of roaming, many owners never see their cats again or find their cat close by dead. Cats often get attached by other animals like dogs, or due to their love of randomly running across the street end up smooshed by a car. Outside of the roaming, cats generally do not stick around as long as long as dogs. Dogs are more durable creatures and have much better survivability skills, The dogs are able to have a much better chance of survival if having a collision with a vehicle than a cat. Moreover, the dogs tend to get very old and stay with families for a very long time. Unless the dog is stolen, unlike cats they don't go and find new families but instead stay with their family until their death.

The cat and dog argument has always been very interesting. The cats and dogs have both similar and distinct differences and people just choose their personal preference. There is nothing wrong if a person likes a cat or a dog, or even both. One thing that is clear is that cats and dogs share differences in their ability to be domesticated, their level of loyalty and the length of life that they live. These are all important factors and there is one animal that is better at it than the other. This may not necessarily mean that one is above the other. The important thing about having a pet is the ability it has to fulfil you and the ability you have to love it.
