What Is Intelligence, Anyway by Isaac Asimov

What Is Intelligence, Anyway by Isaac Asimov

The speaker in the story questions the importance of intelligence test. In an intelligence test at his job he was able to score 160 points which was 60 marks above the average. Though he knew he was smart, the other soldiers knew he was smart, absolutely nothing changed in terms of his positioning at work. Furthermore, the speaker spoke of his mechanic which he approximates to have an IQ of about 80. Despite the fact that he has an IQ that is considered low, the still is intelligent in his craft. Something happens to your vehicle, where are you taking your car to fix? To the person with the knowledge to fix it.

The speaker continues on the discuss how subjective that these test are. The IQ year is used to determine knowledge from a general academic stand point but if it was to be specialized from someone like a carpenter, farmer or the previously mentioned mechanic, people are generally likely to fail. People should make a big deal out of them passing the test but not make anyone else feel bad for not doing as well as you. In reality people are all different and have different specialization. There are so many people who have difficulty reading and writing by are awesome at technical work, work that the average joe cannot do. For this reason and this reason alone, is why everyone is brilliant in their own special ways.
